AdSense is an advertising program run by Google. Web site owners can enroll in this program to enable text and image advertisements on their sites. These ads are administered by Google and generate revenue on a per-click basis. Google utilizes its search technology to serve ads based on website content, the user's geographical location, and other factors. Those wanting to advertise with Google's targeted ad system may sign up through AdWords.
AdWords is Google's branded P4P service. It provides relevant text-based ads on Google's site, and on external sites willing to host Google ads. On the Google site, they are pure text, and thus difficult to block. However, on external sites, they are hosted within an IFRAME tag, making them easy to remove with advertisement blockers like the Mozilla extension AdBlock. Companies wishing to promote their products can enroll in this program to their adds on Google or on websites which use AdSense, the other side of the Google advertising model.

An affiliate network is composed of a group of merchants and a group of affiliates. Merchants join the network and affiliates join the network in order to advertise the merchant products in exchange of a commission from the merchant. Affiliate networks present some great advantages for the merchant and the affiliate. The merchant gets potential access to a wide networks of affiliates. The affiliate dos not necessarily need to make a certain sale amount for one particular merchant but rather for the entire range of merchants before getting paid.

Alternative text or ALT Text:
Text placed inside the image source tag of HTML code. This text is show when images can't be displayed. It's often viewable by rolling the computer mouse over an image. Also know as alt tag.
Anchor Text or Link Text:
Anchor Text are the words used within the link. Search engines use this text to determine the subject of your page and the targeted page.
ASP or Active Server Pages:
Abbreviation for Application Service Provider. An ASP leases their product or service generally for a less-expensive recurring fee than selling it at a one-time cost.
The process of providing audio content on a website. Some hosts do not allow audio or video streaming because it can take up a significant amount of space.
An automated program that acknowledges receipt of an email message, and then sends back a previously prepared email to the sender, letting them know it was received.
